Cadillac Fairview participates in Earth Hour 2011
March 21, 2011 - On Saturday, March 26 from 8:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. all major office towers and shopping centres operated by Cadillac Fairview across Canada will participate in Earth Hour. During this hour, all non-essential lighting and equipment will be shut off, except where doing so presents a potential security or safety risk.
Earth Hour is organized by the World Wildlife Federation, one of the world's largest and most respected independent conservation organizations
“Cadillac Fairview’s properties are firmly dedicated to green initiatives throughout the year, and Earth Hour provides an excellent forum to highlight our commitment to sustainability” says Karen Jalon, Director of National Sustainable Operations for Cadillac Fairview. “We are pleased to support Earth Hours’ important principles and goals.”
Below are just a few examples of how different Cadillac Fairview properties plan to participate by:
• Turning off all or most equipment such as escalators, elevators, fountains, and directory boards.
• Turning down or off all Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment
• Turning off all administrative equipment such as computers and printers
• Rescheduling property cleaning to another date so lights can be dimmed
In addition to ensuring all major operating Cadillac Fairview properties participate, employees are being encouraged to take part at home and personally register for the event at http://wwf.ca/earthhour/
