HAMILTON, ON (September 18, 2023) – CF Lime Ridge is once again lacing up in support of youth mental health and suicide prevention. On Sunday, September 24, 2023, the heart of Hamilton will beat with purpose as CF Lime Ridge hosts the 11th Annual Running for Rachael Charity Run/Walk. 

Running for Rachael has consistently played a pivotal role in Hamilton's suicide prevention efforts, supporting the Suicide Prevention Community Council of Hamilton, this will open in a new tab (SPCCH) and its Roots of Hope - Suicide Prevention and Life Promotion program. In collaboration with CMHA Hamilton and the Mental Health Commission of Canada, the SPCCH has implemented five essential projects: Training and Education, Means Safety, Life Promotion, Building Bridges to Support Transitional Youth, and Advancing Research Projects.

One significant community support initiative is the Be Safe APP for HAMILTON. Developed through a partnership with the SPCCH and mindyourmind, this will open in a new tab, this mobile app offers a lifeline during mental health crises or when contemplating suicide. It's a valuable resource available 24/7, showcasing the intersection of mental health, wellness, engagement, and technology.

Last year’s event raised $35,563 supporting the city-wide work of suicide prevention. This year’s goal is $50,000. Registration for the event is $30 per person or $50 per family, with all proceeds going towards Running for Rachael and the SPCCH. Generous donors who contribute over $20 will receive a charitable tax receipt immediately.
